Shardly has brought a third region online in Nuremberg, completing a footprint of three German sites. The new region adds Ryzen 9 compute capacity and hosts the offsite backup vault for the other two.
As with Frankfurt and Falkenstein, the hardware is owned rather than rented. Shardly buys, racks and operates its own machines, which is what lets it publish per-core specifications instead of a vCPU count that means nothing.
Why a third site
- Backups no longer share a building with the workload they protect.
- Capacity headroom moves ahead of demand rather than tracking it.
- Maintenance on one region no longer needs a customer-visible window.
Customer data continues to stay inside the European Union. No workload, backup or log leaves the region set without an explicit customer action.
